This baby is just about ready to roll. Driver figure doesn't really match the genre, it's more in place for reference purposes....and after looking at this pic..he seems a bit small in scale..may have to change that.

Good concept here. I love modifying vehicles into post apoc rides :D

Some thoughs if you don't mind, in case you'd want to improve the picture (and because I'm a post apoc geek). I don't know if all of this is feasible in your 3D program... Well, here we go anyway :

The rust could be made more natural : remaining crinkled paint and dripping on the hull, different textures for diferent parts (as all is not made from the same metal, and parts were obviously added later), unevenly rusted areas...

You wondered about the wheels : since post apocalyptic survivor use what they can find, how about wheels salvaged from different truck wrecks ? Same for the lights.

The rollcage could look more welded together from junk metal (scaffolding parts, rebar...).

You may also try to put some life in the thing : hanging chains, macabre trophies (yeah, human parts or still living slaves :D) (and the mandatory bull skull), barbed wire grids and spikes to prevent boarding, added metal plates to protect the important parts (engine, wheels, passengers), nihilist graffitis...

Also the spare barrels should be inside the truck if you don't want snipers to make them leak :p

Thinking about the backstory helps to make things more coherent.
If the truck belongs to a band of a nomad raiders, it should barely be running and be covered in everything they have salvaged. Look up for trucks in africa or eastern europe, they are always a good inspiration for post apoc stuff ^^
The truck could also come from a more organized community. Then the quality of the modifications would be better, and the whole thing probably less messy. I find it is how it looks right now.

For drivers and passengers : gasmasks and old clothes are a good start. Melee weapons for everyone (just in case), and just a few guns because ammo is rare (mostly 12 gauge rifles as it is easier to reload the shells or even build the whole thing from scratch).

But put a machine gun on the roof or it's not post apocalyptic

Thanks for the input. I work with MAX 2010 so all of that stuff isn't much of a problem, but this is my first attempt at something along this line. I'm sure there are tons of improvements that can be made. Truth is, I'll probably never finish it. I often do that..*sigh.
It'll probably be used more as a learning experience for the next time I get an urge to try this again.

Well I think this truck has lot of potential ;)

Let me know if you ever do more post apocalyptic stuff :D

BTW..have you seen this [link] ? This is what inspired me to even attempt this type of vehicle. I have a long ways to go to come even close to this.
